Welcome!! My name is Bonnie and I opened Shamrock Studios in May of 2017. My mom, Kathy, joined me as a partner in 2018. Although Mom and I live 5 hours apart, we bounce ideas off of each other, critique each other’s work, and join together for festivals and shows.
I was raised in Nokesville, VA, which was a small farming community about 40 miles from Washington, D.C. Growing up, we always had animals: dogs, cats, horses, ducks, fish, parakeets and gerbils. Mom shared her love of animals, art and photography with my sister and I from an early age.
I primarily work with acrylic paint on a variety of surfaces, such as canvas, wood, leather and Bristol board. For my photography, I use a Canon Rebel Digital SLR. I am passionate about capturing my pets’ unique personalities and funny antics through my art and photography, and hope you will allow me to do the same for yours!
Mom is a gourd artists who grows her own gourds. She creates beautiful birdhouses, bowls and luminaries using a variety of techniques and mediums: woodburning, leather dye, alcohol ink, acrylic paint, beads, natural objects such as feathers and antlers, and more. Due to the delicate nature of the gourds, these items are only available at craft/art festivals throughout the state, and for local pick-up in Ruckersville, VA.
I am a member of ‘Round The Mountain: Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Network‘, The Virginia Equine Artists Association, Abingdon Arts Depot, the Kingsport Art Guild, and the Art Guild of Greene County. My work is available for purchase at the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center & Marketplace (formerly Heartwood) and the Arts Depot in Abingdon, VA, and at Fat Boys BBQ in Saint Paul, VA. I will have a vendor booth set up at some local festivals throughout the year – be sure to check out my Events page for more information.
Thank you for taking the time to visit Shamrock Studios. I look forward to working with you to create something special!
